Basic information

In the industry of infrared emitters, there are three main types available, which are categorized based on their emitted wavelengths. The choice of emitter type for your specific application depends on various factors. Ideally, for most applications, it is beneficial to have a close match between the emitted wavelength and the absorption characteristics of the target material. This ensures efficient transfer of radiation energy, resulting in fast and effective heating.

Nonetheless, there are exceptions to this general rule. In situations where very high energy densities are required, or when dealing with cyclical processes, transparent, thin, or low-conductive materials, it may be necessary to intentionally use emitters that have significantly different characteristics from the material being processed. This deviation allows for specific requirements to be met effectively.

In many applications, such as thermoforming, all three basic emitter types find successful use. These types include long wave ceramic emitters, medium wave quartz emitters, and short wave halogen emitters. Their selection depends on the particular needs of the application at hand.
