Chocolate consumption in Russia is growing faster than world
The world's largest chocolate maker, the Swiss Barry Callebaut, will increase capacity in Russia by almost 3 times. The Russian market has a huge potential, the company believes.
The Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut has signed an agreement to buy the Russian manufacturer Inforum, the companies said in a joint statement. It is planned to complete the transaction until the end of 2018. Its conditions are not disclosed by the parties. Director General of Infoline-analytics Mikhail Burmistrov estimates 100% of Inforum at least 1.8 billion rubles.
Barry Callebaut - the world leader in the production of chocolate and cocoa products. The company has about 60 factories around the world, producing about 2 million tons of products per year. Sales in the 2016/17 fiscal year ended August 31 were about 6.3 billion euros. 50.1% of the company's shares belong to Swiss Jacobs Holding, billionaire Klaus Jacobs, and another 8.5% belong to his wife Renata Jacobs.
