Tulleaf rose, scientifically known as Rosa centifolia, is a hybrid rose species that originated in France during the late 16th century. It is a result of the combination of various rose species, including Rosa gallica, Rosa moschata, Rosa canina, and Rosa damascena. This particular rose species is widely used in the fragrance industry, commonly found in perfumes and eau de toilette. Additionally, the absolute of Tulleaf rose is also utilized in cosmetic products such as creams, lotions, and gels.

Absolutes are traditional products extensively employed in perfumery. They are particularly useful in cases where obtaining an essential oil from a specific plant is challenging or even impossible. The process of obtaining absolutes involves extracting concretes or pomades with ethanol, often at high temperatures. After distilling the solvent, the final product obtained is semi-liquid or sometimes solid. To enhance its texture, cosmetic solvents are added.
