Description

The largest Danish energy company Orsted announced on Wednesday, November 28th that by 2025 it plans to invest in renewable energy sources 200 billion Danish kroner ($ 30.3 billion).

Orsted, which until 2017 was called DONG Energy, now along with oil and gas is rather actively engaged in renewable energy sources, being one of the largest operators of wind power plants. It is estimated that between 75% and 85% of that $ 30 billion will be invested in the creation of coastal wind power stations, and from 15% to 20% in land-based ones. Up to 5% of the amount will go to bioenergy and the development of solutions for customers. As stated by the CEO of Orsted, Henrik Poulsen, if now the capacity of wind power plants of the company is about 12 GW, then by 2030 it should exceed 30 GW.

Many oil and gas companies are investing in the green energy sector - for example, in February the Norwegian Statoil announced its intention to invest more actively in this area.
