For every 1 metric ton of steel, 3-5kg of FeSi75 is required. Additionally, it serves as an inoculant and nodulizer in casting applications and as a reductant for producing other low carbon ferro alloys. Furthermore, Ferro Silicon plays a crucial role in the manufacture of metal magnesium, where 1.2 metric tons of FeSi75 is needed for every 1 metric ton of magnesium produced. The product is widely used as an essential alloy in the steel and cast iron industry. By reducing silica or sand with coke in the presence of iron, Ferro Silicon is created. It serves as a source of silicon to reduce metals from their oxides and as a deoxidizing agent for steel and other ferrous alloys. In the production of cast iron, Ferro Silicon acts as an inoculant to hasten graphitization.
