In the agricultural sector, over 90% of global industrial production of urea is used as a nitrogen-release fertilizer. Urea has the highest nitrogen content among solid nitrogenous fertilizers, making it highly efficient in providing essential nutrients to plants. This high nitrogen content also contributes to lower transportation costs per unit of nitrogen nutrient.
