Información básica

The enkis two-stage counter-flow vertical Packed Bed Scrubber is specifically designed for the collection and processing of sewage and industrial waste water, which are known to emit unpleasant odors, particularly ammonia (NH3) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S). These odors typically arise from various units such as the screening unit, sand/grit removal unit, pump station, and sludge dewatering unit.

In order to effectively eliminate these odors, the enkis Packed Bed Scrubber employs a two-stage approach. The first stage involves a packed tower where an aqueous sulfuric acid (H2SO4) solution is utilized to neutralize and remove the ammonia (NH3) through the following reaction:

2NH3 + H2SO4 ➝ (NH4)2SO4

The resulting chemical compound, ammonium sulfate salt [(NH4)2SO4], is soluble and non-volatile, making it easy to remove via a process known as blowdown.

In the second stage, the scrubber employs a combination of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) solution. The NaOCl acts as an oxidizing agent to efficiently eliminate the hydrogen sulfide. The complete reaction can be represented as follows:

H2S + 4 NaOCl + 2NaOH ➝ Na2SO4 + 4NaCl + 2H2O

Similarly, the resulting compounds, sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) and sodium chloride (NaCl), are also removed via blowdown. The overall efficiency of this two-stage system in removing both ammonia and hydrogen sulfide exceeds 99%.

The enkis Packed Bed Scrubber offers an effective and reliable solution for combating unpleasant odors associated with sewage and industrial waste water. Its efficient removal of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide ensures a more pleasant and environmentally friendly working environment.
