Información básica

Air assisted flares are designed specifically for the smokeless combustion of low pressure waste gases in various industries. They are particularly useful when steam is not readily available on site. These flares utilize forced draft air or gas to create turbulence, ensuring that an adequate supply of primary combustion air is provided to the flame. The size of the flare tip and riser, as well as the amount of air, are determined based on the desired level of smokeless operation and the maximum flow for smokeless operation.

Some key features of air assisted flares include a proprietary design that maximizes the mixing of waste gas and air streams, variable speed fans to supply the optimal amount of air or gas, the option to use wind deflectors to prevent flame impingement, flame holders around the flare tip for stable operation, and the use of high-grade alloys to enhance the flare tip's lifetime. Additionally, the combustion/mixing air is used to cool the flare tip, thereby extending its lifespan.

There are several advantages to using air assisted flares. Firstly, they offer smokeless operation under a wide range of operating conditions. They are also capable of smokeless flaring of high molecular weight gases. The air cooling of the flare tip not only results in a longer lifespan but also leads to lower operation and maintenance costs. Furthermore, these flares reduce the radiant heat for a given capacity, making them highly efficient.

Air assisted flares find applications in various sectors, including upstream oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical industries, refineries, tank farms, terminals, pipeline transport, as well as LNG and NG terminals and compressor stations.
