This category ensures that the apples are of good quality and exhibit the characteristic shape, caliber, and color of the variety. The pulp should not deteriorate, but slight defects of form, development, or staining may be allowed. Additionally, there may be slight defects of the epidermis, as long as they do not exceed a certain limit.

In the (2) category, defects of shape, development, and staining are admitted, as long as the fruits maintain their minimum characteristics. However, the pulp should not have any serious defects.
